NATO SFA COE JOINED THE COE LEGAD AND FINCON WORKSHOP 2024
From the 12th to the 14th of September 2023 the NATO SFA COE
joined the COE LEGAD and FINCON Workshop 2024 organized by the HQ Supreme
Allied Commander Transformation and NATO Counter-Intelligence Centre of
Excellence at the Polish Army Land Component Command in Krakow, Poland.
It brought together representatives from NATO Centres of
Excellence (COEs) to discuss budget, financial management, and legal aspects of
the COEs' operations.
The workshop focused on ensuring adherence of COEs to FN and
NATO rules and legal regulations, understanding the legal status and practical
roles of Steering Nation Representatives (SNRs), and the impact of the European
Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) on COEs. It also aimed at
equipping COEs with the knowledge to navigate host nation internal legislative
processes, along with the creation of medium-term financial strategies and the
implementation of customized automated accounting software for COEs.
A highlight of the workshop was a proposal to create a
training program focused on financial management using a free cross-platform
accounting software. The goal is to enhance the financial management of COEs by
streamlining budgeting, financial reporting, and resource tracking.
The workshop promoted collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and
alignment with NATO's strategic objectives. It provided an opportunity for
representatives to exchange ideas, identify common challenges, and develop
effective approaches to legal issues, budgeting, and financial management.
