NATO SFA COE participated in the Resolute Support (RS) Training Event (TE) 21-1
On the
20th of January 2021, the NATO SFA COE Subject Matter Expert participated in
the Resolute Support (RS) Training Event (TE) 21-1 by giving a virtual lesson introducing
the Training Audience to key elements, concepts and thinking in relation to
Functionally Based Security Force Assistance (FBSFA).
The RS
TEs are recurrent events aimed to provide Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) to NATO
Troops to be deployed to Afghanistan. Currently there are three RS TEs per
year, and the Training Audience comprises Resolute Support HQ, Train Advice
Assist Command (TAAC) West and North.
RS TEs
are conducted at the NATO Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC) located in
Bydgoszcz, Poland, which is the focal point of NATO pre-deployment training,
but due to the COVID-19 restrictions the 21-1 iteration was conducted in
distant learning mode.
JFTC
conducts the mission-focused training for both headquarters and advisors
deploying to the Resolute Support mission with the support, among others, of the
NATO SFA COE and recently redeployed Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who share
their experiences in training, advising, and assisting in the Afghan theatre of
operation.
NATO
SFA COE is a key partner for the JFTC, and the cooperation between the two
organizations has always been very effective.
