International Concept Development and Experimentation Virtual Conference 2021
NATO SFA COE personnel attended the International
Concept Development and Experimentation (CD&E) Virtual Conference from the
25th to the 28th of October.
The event aimed at promoting a collaborative approach to
concept development and experimentation through the sharing of experiences,
knowledge and best practices derived from national expertise. The main areas of
the Conference were future concepts, experimentation and creative ideation.
Speakers from Allied and Partner Nations, academia, and industry intervened in
debates that touched on aspects such as Intermediate Force Capability (IFC),
the use of a synthetic environment in simulation and war gaming.
The meeting provided excellent opportunities for ACT and
NATO-accredited COE practitioners to enhance and improve their CD&E skills.
In particular, the presentation on the process that brought the NATO Mountain
Warfare COE to define the “Mountain Warfare Concept” was particularly
interesting for the NATO SFA COE CD&E personnel, since it provided unique
food for thought to draft an initial concept, foreseeing the traits of a SFA
unit as a way to enhance NATO capability to deliver developmental activity to
Host Nation’s Local Forces.
