NATO SFA COE representatives joined the Security Force Assistance Training Needs Analysis (TNA), Re-Design Workshop for the Institutional Adviser Course, related to the Military Contribution to Peace Support (MC2PS) NATO Discipline, managed by the Finnish Defence Forces International Centre (FINCENT)I n Rome, Italy from the 17th to the 20th of April 2023.

NATO SFA COE representatives (Doctrine Development and Doctrine Branch & Concept Development & Experimentation Branch) lectured during the “Operational Planning Module” for the Joint Services Staff Institute, held on the 13th of April 2023 in Rome at the Italian Centre for Higher Defence Studies.

NATO SFA COE participated in the NATO Lessons Learned Spring Week 2023, organized by the Headquarters Supreme Allied Command Transformation (HQ SACT) Joint Force Development (JFD), which took place from the 28th to 30th of March, in Sofia, Bulgaria.

NATO SFA COE joined the Crisis Response Planning (CRP) for the “Steadfast Jackal 2023” directed by the Joint Warfare Centre and sponsored by the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE).

A NATO SFA COE   Subject Matter Expert lectured during the course “New Peace Operations as a stabilizing factor for the European Union”, that was held from the 13th to the 17th of March 2023, in Rome, at the Italian Centre for Higher Defence Studies.

On the 8th of March 2023, the NATO SFA COE Subject Matter Expert participated in the Analysis & Lessons Learned Community of Interest virtual meeting organized by the ACT JFD Centres of Excellence Programme Development Branch (CPD).

On the 6th and 7th of March, the NATO Security Force Assistance Centre of Excellence (NATO SFA COE) participated in the conference entitled "International emergencies and armed conflicts".

On the 1st of March, a NATO SFA COE SMEs took part to the Doctrine Development and Standards Conference Online Meeting for NATO COEs organized by the COE Programme Development Branch of the Allied Command Transformation.

From the 28th of February to the 3rd of March, a NATO SFA COE representative acted as an Educator, together with other Mentors from the Italian Army, in an Educational and Training Module for the Instructors of the Army’s Training Regiments. 

NATO SFA COE participated in EUROCORPS Academics in Strasbourg which took place from the 13th to 15th February in preparation for the NATO STEADFAST JACKAL 23 (STJA23) exercise.

A NATO SFA COE representative (Doctrine Development and Doctrine Branch) joined in a seminar with other NATO Defence Education Enhancement Program (DEEP) Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), at the Tunisian War College in Tunisia, from the 7th to the 11th of February 2023.

The NATO SFA COE participated in the Annual Disciplines Forum (ADF) from the 6th to the 9th of February, organized by the Headquarters Supreme Allied Command Transformation (HQ SACT) Joint Force Development (JFD).

The NATO SFA COE will offer different training solutions for 2023, both residential and online.

These solutions are (or are going to be) certified as “NATO Selected” courses, that satisfy NATO performance gaps identified within the Military Contribution to Peace Support NATO Discipline through the System Approach to Training process and represent suitable training solutions aligned with the performance gaps.

A specific calling letter for each iteration will be published on the NATO SFA COE website at least two months before each course commences.

2023 Training Offer update&reminder

The NATO Security for Assistance Centre of Excellence (NATO SFA COE) and the NATO Stability Policing Centre of Excellence (NATO SP COE) representatives joined the Training Needs Analysis (TNA) workshop in Vicenza, Italy from the 19th to 22nd of December 2022.

On the 21st of December 2022, during the NATO SFA COE internship roundtable, a “Career Service” representative, Mr Pancrazio Musilli, from the LUISS Guido Carli University visited the Centre, as part of the cooperation between the two entities that started in January 2020.

On the 2nd of December 2022 the NATO Security Force Assistance Centre of Excellence (NATO SFA COE) and the International Institute of Humanitarian Law (IIHL) signed a Letter of Cooperation in Sanremo.

NATO SFA COE Education and Training Branch representatives joined the annual NATO Individual Training and Education Conference (NITEC) and the NATO ITEP Planning Board (IPB) Conferences (“Shaping training through engagement”), conducted by the NATO HQ – Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (HQ-SACT) – Joint Force Development (JFD), from 15th to 17th November 2022 and hosted at NCI Academy in Oeiras (Portugal).

This “NATO Selected” course satisfies NATO performance gaps identified within Military Contribution to Peace Support Discipline throughout the System Approach to Training process and represents a suitable training solution aligned with performance gaps.

The International Concept Development and Experimentation (ICD&E) conference was held from the 25-27 October 2022 in Budapest, Hungary hosted by the Hungarian Defence Forces Command.

NATO SFA COE participated in the Annual Discipline Conference (ADC) organized by the Centre for Integrity in the Defence Sector (CIDS) that took place on the 12 of October in Bruxelles. The CIDS is appointed by Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (HQ SACT/JFD) as the Department Head (DH) for the Building Integrity (BI) Education and Training (E&T) Discipline.
