On the 2nd of December 2021, during the roundtable on the  “Security Force Assistance  in Afghanistan”, the NATO SFA COE met with Lt Col Jahara MATISEK, associate Professor in the Department of Military and Strategic Studies and member of the US Department of Defence Minerva project, who co-authored the  1st Chapter titled a Practical Guide for Advisors in Fragile States: Peacebuilding Approaches for SFA Programming  of the publication on “Promoting the Rule of Law and Good Governance – SFA implications in international initiatives".

A NATO SFA COE representative (the Analysis and Lessons Learned Branch) joined the Lessons Learned Workshop organized by NATO Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence, held in Bled, Slovenia from 22nd to 25th November 2021.

NATO SFA COE representatives (the Director, Education and Training, Analysis and Lessons Learned Branches) joined the 6th Annual Discipline Conference within the Military Contribution to Peace Support (MC2PS).

NATO SFA COE personnel attended the International Concept Development and Experimentation (CD&E) Virtual Conference from the 25th to the 28th of October. 

From the 26th to the 28th of October 2021 the NATO SFA COE Education and Training Branch representatives joined the Individual Training and Education Program Planning Board (IPB) organized by NATO – Allied Command Transformation (ACT) and hosted at the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre (NMIOTC) – Chania (Greece). 

On the 13th October, the NATO SFA COE joined the seminar “integrity – the human factor” organized during the 2021 Building Integrity annual discipline conference held in Rome.

It is our great pleasure to present the “SFA Operators Course” and the “Institutional Adviser Course” that will be hosted, in presence, by the NATO SFA COE, respectively from 11^th to 15^th and from 18^th to 22^nd October 2021.

From 3-6 October 2021, NATO SFA COE Director participated in the Centre for Excellence (CoE) Directors’ Conference chaired by the NATO Stability Policing (NSP) CoE Director in Vicenza, ITA. 

From the 14th to the 16th of September, the NATO SFA COE joined the NATO Training Technology Conference (NTTC), organised in hybrid mode, by the Supreme Allied Command Transformation (HQ SACT) and arrived to the third annual iteration. 

On the 30th of September 2021, NATO SFA COE will present its first publication on promoting the Rule of Law and Good Governance and how the main International Organisations are involved in supporting this initiative.

The NATO Security Force Assistance (SFA) Centre of Excellence’s Director, Col. Massimo DI PIETRO, is pleased to announce that “The SFA Advisors' Enhancement Seminar” will take place from the 27th to 30th of September 2021  at the Italian Army Infantry School garrison. 

On the 12th of July, after almost 3 years, Ltc. Defrim HAXHIJA handed over his duties to his successor.

NATO SFA COE joined the second annual meeting of the Intelligence and Security related Centres of Excellence (COEs) organized by the Joint Intelligence and Security Division of the NATO International Staff with the NATO Intelligence Enterprise (NIE).

On the 19th of June 2021 the NATO SFA COE participated in the event on “Implementing International Humanitarian Law (IHL): Innovative Programming and Best Practices in the age of COVID-19”.

On the 16th of June, the NATO SFA COE joined the Seminar on EU-NATO training and education lessons identified and best practices during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, organised by the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) and the Allied Command Transformation (ACT).

On the 18th of May, the NATO Security Force Assistance Centre of Excellence (NATO SFA COE) had the opportunity to participate in the warfare development talk (webinar) on resilience, hosted by SACT.

On the 22nd of April, the founding chairman of the Religion & Security Council, Mr Emiliano STORNELLI, visited the NATO SFA COE.

From the 12th to 21st of April, the NATO Security Force Assistance Centre of Excellence (NATO SFA COE) interviewed personnel belonging to the US Security Force Assistance Command and to the five SFA Brigades.

On the 15th and 16th of April the NATO SFA COE took part in the “Strategic changes in Security and International Relations" within the International "Strategic Conference STRATEGIES XXI" organised by the Romanian National Defence University.

On the period 13th-15th of April, the NATO Security Force Assistance Centre of Excellence (NATO SFA COE) had the opportunity to participate in a Research Wargame in the framework of a wider initiative - approved by the Military Committee – aimed at developing a NATO Intermediate Force Capability (IFC) Concept.
